Everyone knows that Prince came from Minneapolis, who was nurtured by the local music community and rose to fame as a singer, songwriter and pioneer of the "Minnesota Sound". But Minnesota has a long history as the home of famous music-makers, from Judy Garland and The Andrews Sisters in the 1930's and 40's, to early rock and roll bands of the 1960's like The Castaways, The Trashmen, Gary Puckett and the Union Gap, music legend Bob Dylan, and folk/country singer John Devver. Today, the Twin Cities is home to many musicians whose styles range from classical to country, and from rock to jazz and hip-hop.
