In the words of Paul Simon, the poet laureate of the Baby Boom generation, "Someone told me it's all happening at the zoo!" Fun in Minneapolis is pleased to present this list of Zoos in the greater Minneapolis/St. Paul MN area of the Twin Cities. We're very fortunate to have so many different zoos close-by. The crown jewel, of course, is The Minnesota Zoo in Apple Valley which opened in 1978. Spread over 485 acres, it hosts an incredible variety of species displayed in a natural environment. The Como Park Zoo and Conservatory in St. Paul is over 100 years old now, and has been educating the public about wildlife since it opened. Smaller in scale, but no less dedicated to protecting endangered species and a beautiful place to take your family. The other local zoos tend to have a narrower focus, but are no less worth a visit with the kids. Enjoy them all!
